We all know that toothaches and pain can be incredibly debilitating. Often, we’ll do anything to get rid of the pain as quickly as possible. Over-the-counter medication can help, but sometimes a little more help is needed which you can apply locally.
Recently I had a tooth extraction (due to a broken tooth below my gum line) and an immediate implant placed. And I wanted something natural without side effects that could sooth my soreness after the pain medication wears off.
I searched for something that I could buy, but since I had some of the essential oils already in my possesion, I knew I could make my own oil for toothache. I could save a lot and adjust the dilution according to my pain level.

What You Need To Make This Toothache Oil
Making your own blend of oils for toothache can be really rewarding, it’s one of the best natural tooth pain relief you can make at home.
First you’ll need to make sure you’ve got the right ingredients! The higher the quality the better results you’ll have without side effects. Bellow I’m listing the exact products (with links) I used to make this blend:
Start with a:
- hemp oil as a carrier oil,
- then mix in:
- essential oils of clove;
- manuka essential oil;
- myrrh essential oil;
- frankincense essential oil;
- cinnamon essential oil;
- peppermint essential oil.
- Finally, add some pure, high quality CBD oil if desired for an extra anti-inflammatory effect.
It’s important to choose the right concentration and purity for the best results. I’m using one of the best CBD oil I could find on US market. This CBD oil is a whole-plant extract (full spectrum) with a potency of 60mg/mL.
The combination of these natural ingredients will give you a effective pain relief solution. Don’t forget to keep things clean when mixing up your ingredients.
How to Make This Oil For Toothache
Prepare a clean sterilized (dry) small glass bottle. I’m using a clean (1 fl oz) amber bottle with glass droper. Add the oils to the bottle and mix by shaking it vigorously. Store in a cool place.
How to Use This Natural Oil for Tooth Pain
To use this oil for toothache, apply 2 drops on the gum around the painful area and massage with your finger gently.
For best results, you can soak a tiny thin piece of cotton pad or gauze in this oil and place it on the affected area. This will help keep the oil in place longer while its healing properties are deeply absorbed by your teeth and gums.
Apply as needed until tooth pain subsides. If the toothache pain persists despite using this oil, it could indicate a more serious dental problem that should be checked by your dentist.
Alternatives
If you don’t have time to make this oil recipe or you don’t have all these ingredients (essential oils) at home you can order a similar oil blend for teeth and mouth (already dilluted formula), or an undiluted essential oil blend that you can adjust and dilute in your favorite carrier oil.
Other carrier oils you can use:
- melted coconut oil
- almond oil
- olive oil
- calendula oil
