Ingredients For Honey Mustard Dressing

  • Dijon mustard – choose a good-quality Dijon mustard. It’ll give the dressing a smooth, creamy texture and well-balanced flavor.
  • Plant based yogurt – it gives body and richness (use oil if you want it thinner) so you get a creamy honey mustard dressing. For a simple vinaigrette-style dressing omit the yogurt entirely.
  • Honey – to sweeten up and create a nice texture. For a vegan honey mustard sauce use maple syrup – it gives the dressing a touch of classic sweetness – it will turn into a maple mustard sauce.
  • Apple cider vinegar – for tang. Fresh lemon juice is great too. You can also use white wine vinegar if you like.
  • Garlic powder or freshly minced, onion powder works as well.
  • Sea salt – to help bring out the flavors.
  • Ground black pepper – optional.

Honey Mustard Sauce Vs Dressing

What Type Of Mustard To Use

The level of heat in a given type of mustard is largely determined by the style of seed—yellow seeds are mild, while brown or black seeds have a lot more heat. So choose according to your taste.

  • Yellow Mustard is the most widely grown type of mustard seed and has the mildest flavor. The bright yellow color of yellow mustard comes from turmeric, which is combined with yellow mustard seeds, vinegar, and water (and some additional spices) to make a squeezable sauce.
  • Dijon mustard has a more pungent, spicy flavor than yellow mustard. It’s often made with white wine and brown and/or black mustard seeds.
  • Brown mustard typically uses a slightly coarser grind than yellow or Dijon and has a more intense earthy flavor with more spice.

Really tasty dressing (used the oil instead of yogurt), I think the maple syrup added a nice depth of flavor also I used about a 1/4 tsp of garlic granules.
